Baptism - April 2, 2016
Jesus commissioned His disciples to “preach the gospel to all people, baptizing them… and teach them to observe all things and He will be with them even unto the end of the world” Matt. 28:19,20. Burnaby Fil-Can SDA Church, one of fast growing churches in British Columbia Conference responded to this commission. The combined efforts of Pastor Levi Estores and elder Theody Malabanan to bring a regular presentation of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs to the church members and interests every Sabbath afternoon and also Bro. Oscar Piloneo's share of conducting a bible studies to the interest and new converts, the influence of SDA’s home and Vancouver Filipino Pathfinder class, and the hospitality and loving nature of church members made a huge impact to these 8 precious souls who decided to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and submitted themselves through baptism last April 2, 2016.
The memorable baptism celebration was a joined effort of the Burnaby Fil-Can SDA Church with their seven candidates and Vancouver Filipino Church with one. Most of them who got baptized are young ones who at their early age realize the significant of baptism in their Christian journey and there was one from the past evangelism harvest who through the working of the Holy Spirit eventually responded in faith and committed himself to our Saviour.
The highlights of the baptismal service was the giving of personal conversion testimonies from each candidates by Pastor Levi Estores followed by the presentation of the gospel message in which baptism is the core. Added highlight was the mention of how significant this day for Christle Malabanan because it was her birthday and her baptism as well, and was born Saturday night and born again Saturday afternoon. A celebration not only here on earth but also in heaven for the souls brought to Jesus.
Members of the church family warmly welcomed the new members and assured them of belongingness and nurturing as they begin their Christian journey. We recognize that God is at work and every single soul that we bring to the feet of Jesus is a direct result of prayer, dedication and hard work. For this reason, we will always be inspired to continue witnessing and winning souls for Christ.
